This event still lives on as one of our favorites. The wedding took place at the bride's aunt and uncle's home in Castaic and was completely outside. The bride's vision was to have heavy hors d'oeuvres and no real sit down tables - for 100 people! We were happy to have the challenge, and as we walked the grounds we could clearly visualize the ceremony in the front garden, cocktails around the pool and reception in the back yard.

While the house was spectacular, the rolling hills surrounding the area were not in full bloom -- so we decided to really use color to set the scene. Our bride chose periwinkle blue and yellow For the ceremony we built a traditional arch and covered it with beautiful flowers in blues and yellows, and instead of an ordinary white linen runner, we chose fabric in the periwinkle blue and spread yellow rose petals along the edges. For the reception, we decided to bring in white "Shabby Chic" furniture -- sofas, loveseats, coffee and end tables, etc. and set the pieces in vignettes around the dance floor and surrounding grounds. Again, since the hills in the background were pretty bleak in terms of color, we placed lush floral pieces on several coffee tables and even created pillows entirely made of flowers! They were really striking against the white furniture. Since we knew the party would last well into the evening, we created some ambient light (in addition to some pole lighting) by surrounding lanterns with flowers for the table pieces. The only problem we had was keeping the guests out of the reception area until the appropriate time -- everyone felt the area was so inviting that they wanted to skip cocktails and get right to the party.
